PLEASE support content creators while tumblr is falling apart. This is where a lot artists and writers make the majority of their money off their art and with all these issues it’s almost impossible to do that without your help.
If you like something they create, reblog it so others can see. If they aren’t making money off commissions/donations/patreon pledges from their current followers then they need to get their art noticed outside their follower circle.
If you can afford it, donate to their kofis/commission them/ give a small patreon pledge. Even $1 a month on patreon is a huge help if enough people do it.
If you see a lot of their content being wrongly flagged by the tumblr bots, tell them. Tumblr doesn’t notify you and they may not notice and dispute it properly.
Can I just say how glad I am for my inability to go on hiatus on this site? Who knows what I would have come back to next week if I’d just deleted the app and come back after finals, not having known about any of this
Time to spend my night going through everyone I want to stay in contact with from here, fighting anxiety while I send friend requests & follow people on twitter/discord/etc
I’ll stick around, even if it’s to watch the whole thing go up in flames XD
Like I said already, I’m not leaving or anything. I’ve taken precautions to make sure my posts are backed up, but I am not quitting this platform anytime soon!
Everyone loves to shit on this site but the truth is no major social media platform fosters a sense of community quite like tumblr nor does it generate such valuable conversations (amidst a lot of bullshit granted but there’s no escaping that anywhere on the internet)…….like the kinds of genuine love n connection that are created via tumblr are absolutely unique to the platform and I don’t know why or what it is and I sure as hell don’t attribute the quality to anything the staff has ever done but it doesn’t matter, there is something special about it here, an accident maybe but over its 11 years of existence it’s consistently bridged a gap between traditional text-based blogging and more recently popular photo-centric social networking that allows for more humanity & innovation than I’ve found anywhere else, and I’ll be the first to say I’m only leaving when they drag me out by my ankles and u bet your bottom dollar I’ll be kicking and screaming.
@indigo-inkwell and I made a discord server for people who like to make things, whether that be drawing, writing, cosplay, or any other type of creative work, or even if you just appreciate art, this is a server for you!
I know tumblr’s been up in smoke the past few days, so this might be a good alternative if you want to talk to other creative people & share your work.
Please reblog & share this since tumblr’s been fucked up wrt to posts with links not showing up in tags lately!
