Why do you continue to attend church? Doesn’t it seem pointless? It’s not like they are going to start allowing gay temple marriages.

To be a queer Mormon is to have active LDS folks, Ex Mo’s, and non-LDS queer people all tell me to leave the church.

I mean, I have considered it, I do consider it, and will consider it, but that’s not where I am. Respect my choice and chill.

PSA: y’all might seem well meaning, but please, don’t go pestering someone based on their faith choices. If someone is gay and religious, it’s almost certain they’ve had to do plenty of soul searching to get where they’re at. Regardless of their reasoning, it’s hard enough to live in the divisive intersection that is sexuality and religion. Don’t go making it harder.

Yes, this is a super annoying comment that religious LGBTQ people get from all sides. I do kinda understand how it truly baffles some people. But listen, I like being a gay person at church. I’ve had some good opportunities to share my story, have meaningful conversations, and interact with members in ways that have allowed me to advocate for the LGBTQ community, which I wouldn’t have had if I simply left.

And church is how I connect with God—service, tradition, organization, study, and community. It’s true the Mormon church shafts LGBTQ members in a lot of ways, but that doesn’t mean the things it does right aren’t still meaningful. The queer Mormons that stay have simply decided that the connection they feel to God at church is more important than any institutional limitation or societal pressure. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more faithful and independently strong-willed group of Mormons.

So yeah sure, I don’t get temple marriage. But no, it’s not “pointless.”

Do you ever read someone’s fanfic and realized it was so good that you went to look for the rest of their stuff and you read all of them too, and now you just wait for them to write something new? Like you don’t even care what they write because everything will be gold. Just give me the soulmate starbucks hooker AU or anything else you write, I’m desperate here.

Harley & Ivy

This is why I love them!

Harley is an abuse survivor of course she’d wreck this dude!!!

Can I just say how much I love the implications here?

Harley and Ivy are known public figures. People know who they are, and recognize them. And this kid knows that, despite being violent criminals, they’re safe enough to go to for protection.

Ivy is dead certain that the Batfamily will be okay with them intervening to protect a kid. That has some intersting implications – either she knows damn well where the lines lie and that this is overriding enough to get her a pass, or (more likely, given the first bit) this has come up before.

one of my favorite tropes is villains acting heroically not because the other villain is a threat to them or because it benefits them, but because they have standards

Just because you’re a villain doesn’t mean you have to be an asshole.

This is my favorite villain trope/type of villain, one that has standards for their villainy and the kind of villainy of which they approve. It’s also why I like Deadpool so much.

Article 13 is bad.

Article 13 will destroy millions of people’s jobs. Article 13 is a threat to artists and online creators.

  • Article 13 is a threat to memes.
  • Article 13 is a threat to YouTube.
  • Article 13 is a threat to musicians.
  • Article 13 is a threat to the Internet.

Article 13 will hurt North America and Europe alike.

FUCKING TALK ABOUT THIS SHIT AND STAND TO MAKE A CHANGE THIS SHIT IS SERIOUS. EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY NOT BE A RESIDENT OF EUROPE, THIS SHIT WILL AFFECT YOU. IT WILL COME BACK AROUND.

If you care at all about freedom of speech, freedom of internet, job pools, artists, creators, even fucking memes

TAKE A STAND.

This shit is serious. Once the freedom of the internet is gone, it cannot be taken back. People bitch and moan about no one doing anything while still doing nothing themselves. Now is the time to change. Stand up and call upon your local government. Find resources to help those who will be directly affected and protect them from this disturbing article’s intended purpose.

Do not allow this bullshit “step towards a more helpful copyright law” to pass.

Give me whump but most important give me the comfort after the whump

Give me carrying characters to safety. Give me fighting while one is on the ground. Give me the aftermath where the rest of the cast beg their friend to wake up.

Give me soft hospital visits and silent rooms. Give me sleeping in a chair by the bedside. Sometimes resting back and sometimes falling asleep with their head tucked in their arms on the mattress.

Give me the thinking, the pondering, the “what if I’d done something different.” Give me the guilt and choking back tears because they think this is their fault.

Give me rustling on the bed and startled gasps and soft callings of “are you awake?” “Are you with us?”. Give me struggling to regain and stay conscious. Give me fading in and out. Give me bleary half lidded eyes suddenly coming open.

Give me confusion and questions, hoarse voices and gently shushing. Give me hugs and soft smiles and gratefulness they they’re still alive. Give me hand holding and quick touches, platonic, romantic, or otherwise.

Just give me the hurt but also give me the sweet soft comfort

I actually followed through with the goal I set at the beginning of this year, and honestly I’m really motivated to actually figure out what I want to focus on for 2019. It was really nice having a goal to focus on, even if it was just “figure shit out”- which I did! I learned quite a bit about myself in 2018, and I like to think I’m a better person because of that. I’ve also made quite a few friends this year & strengthened relationships with old ones, and I look forward to seeing where next year takes me

it takes years to develop your craft. do not romanticize the idea of an ‘overnight success’. be a student. grow organically. get really good. hate your work. start over. find new ways to express the same ideas. the student becomes the master. your time will come.
