I didn’t know cheetahs meow I’ve always thought they roar my whole life has been a lie
Ok but the other one is purring so hard
If I ever don’t reblog this assume I’m dead
Fun fact: technically, because of its inability to roar and its ability to purr, the cheetah is not a ‘big cat’ (or Great Cat) – they are still classified as Lesser Cats.
Also you haven’t heard anything until you hear them cheep.
As of today, November 17, 2018, any post with links, any links, even to other tumblr posts, just don’t show up anymore in tumblr’s search engine.
I just found out about it, after I posted a fic with a link to my masterlist and it got little to no notes (it shuldn’t). I was right – the moment I deleted the links, my post magically appeared in the search again. Wow.
Please spread the word to warn the others.
This affects artists who want to cross promote their work, writers who want to link to previous chapters or to a masterlist, and editors who want to link to their YouTube channels, among just a few. This new policy will kill content creators’ ability to spread their work, and for what? A poor attempt to use the algorithm to crack down on porn bots and scammers? Sad.
In the meantime, here’s what I suggest: post your work with no added links, and tell people to check the notes for your masterlist, story navigation, links to ko-fi, patreon, and other social media sites. Make sure you have all those things ready, then paste it into a reblog and have people access them that way. It’s stupid, but it’s a work around we’ll have to use until tumblr gets their act together.
– At first, Grif hates Wash. Like really hates him
– But after they were split up, after Grif watched Wash try to hold them all together, well, he really couldn’t hate him anymore
– slowly Grif begins to search Wash out on the particularly hard days. On the days when him and Simmons fight. On the days that Sarge gets on his nerves just a little bit to much
– and Wash just welcomes him with open arms. After all of these years, Wash is happy to have someone that doesn’t expect him to be the perfect leader. Someone to have a beer with while hiding from everyone else
– Sarge more or less adopts Caboose as his blue son
– Caboose doesn’t notice a difference, but everyone else does
– Everyone notices the way Sarge positions himself far enough away as to not be associated with those dirty blues, but also close enough to be there in a second if they were to need him
– Simmons will never admit it, but joining with the blues was the best thing to ever come out of this war
– He is incredibly thankful for having a family around him that cares about him. Brothers, sisters, even a father like figure
– Carolina never realized how much she wanted a sibling until she saw how the Red and Blues fought for each other.
– She wanted a family that would fight for her, even when she didnt feel like she deserves it. She wanted a family that knew they could rely on one another
– Then, she realized that’s what she has. She is apart of their family now
I read a lot of scripts. A lot. From professionals to aspiring writers to complete newbies. Features and pilots. Specs and treatments.
And 8 times out of 10 the fan fic that I’ve read over the last, oh, 15 years is leagues better than this stuff. It’s more inspired. It’s more compelling. It’s genre bending and creative and heartfelt. It’s well-paced and intense and funny and sexy and meaningful. It’s smart and thoughtful and good. It’s novel-quality. Better than, sometimes.
Rare is the script I don’t want to put down, but how often have we stayed up until 3am to get to the last chapter of a 100k fic? And it’s not even a fan fic author’s day job. This is what they do on the side. In their spare time. For free.
So my point is, fan fic authors, you’re good. You’re good writers and great storytellers. I know it doesn’t always feel like it, especially if you’re one of the authors who’s not a BNF and doesn’t get the notes/hits that a few do. And because some people still view fic as “not real writing.” You guys know the shit that gets made into movies. You’re better than that. So be better than that. If writing is what you think want to do, then just know you’re already doing it. You’ve already started.
And you’re more talented than you might think.
This fic is turning into quite the learning experience
I will definitely be a better writer after finishing this, and y’know what? That’s whats important
